You write a script. You're excited about it and you can't wait for everyone to see it, but you know it could be even better. So you find me, an editor. I look it over, I read through it and give you my initial reaction. We talk a little bit about the story and the characters and the overall message you want to get across.
Then I go in, and I proofread, format, and do some re-writes. I make sure the characters are consistent, the plot has as few holes as possible, and the dialogue is natural and not overly expository.
You're happy, I'm happy, and your future viewers are happy. Everyone wins!
